THE LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL WORLD SERIES begins this Friday when 8 teams from the U.S. and 8 teams from around the world begin play to decide the LL World Champions for 2010. This year the LL World Series has a New Jersey team Toms River and Freehold Boro's Little League President, Rich Matteo, will be throwing out the first ball in Sunday nights 8 pm game at LaMade Stadium. That game will pit the winner of game #1 New England & Northwest against the winner of game #2 between the Midwest & Southwest.  The LL World Series week gets started with a parade, Thursday night, through the streets of Williamsport.  Each team in the tournament rides a float through the city.  This year's Grand Marshall is recent Hall of Fame Inductee Andre "The Hawk" Dawson.  Following the parade a reception is held and the next morning, Friday, at the welcome breakfest former National League Batting Title winner Andre Dawson answers questions and signs autographs.  Later that morning at 11 am the Opening Ceremonies take place and at 1 pm the first game of the 2010 series begins.  In all 32 games are played culminating on Sunday, August 29 in the championship game starting at 3 pm.

SPECIAL THANKS to all the FBLL Board members, parents, managers & coaches that helped make this year's FBLL a success. FEELING HOT, HOT, HOT - With temperatures reaching 100 + the FBLL  held its annual picnic.  Ribs, hot dogs, burgers and chicken were devoured by the players and their families.  The kids enjoyed the water rides and a few managed to play baseball, in the heat, while others participated in an egg throwing contest, a greased watermelon throwing contest, and a pie eating contest. Gift certificates to Ritas were presented to the winners.  All-star awards, First Place & Playoff winners, door prizes, and participation medals were also presented.  Special thanks to Monique Piscopo, Sari Valenti, & Carol Schreier for organizing this wonderful day.  Thanks also to Al Piscopo, Dave Schreier, Joan Stein, Pam Matteo, the Freehold Fire Dept., Federici's, Dan McGill, Ken Stein,  Freehold Elks, Sal DeJesus, Ted Miller,  Diane Galatro, and all the managers, coaches, & players that helped setting & cleaning up.  The kids had a great day and that's really what it's all about!

DODGERS WIN IT ALL!  That's right the Dodgers beat the Cardinals in the 2010 Playoff Finals thus capturing both the regular season & playoff championships in the FBLL with a 15-1-1 record.  The Dodgers scored 3 first inning runs. Caleb Schreier, Adrian Barajas, Jake Curry and Javi Rodriguez were responsible for the runs. The Dodgers added runs in the third on hits by Curry, Rodriguez,  and Andy Rizo.  Jake Curry hit an inside the park homerun in the fourth scoring Dan Smith.  Adrian Barajas shut out the Cardinals through 5 inning recording 8 strikeouts.  The Cards got two runs in the sixth.  Cow bells announcing the Dodger win could be heard all over the complex.  Rumor has it Marlboro and Colts Neck lodged a complaint due to the cow bells.  Congratulations to both teams for a hard fought game.  A big thank you to Manager Al Curry and Coach Dave Schreier for their fine work with the team!

The Phillies take the playoffs - The FBLL Minor League Phillies became Playoff Champs when they beat the first place Indians 20-7. Colin Popper and Kacey McCutheon pitched the Phillies to victory.  The dynamic duo combined to shutdown the Orioles in the semi's and then again limiting the Indians in the title game. McCutheon delivered the final blow in the fifth when he hit a grand slam. The Phillies got big hits earlier from Anthony McGovern, Vincent McGovern, and Keegan Roche. Anthony McGovern drove in 4 runs with a single and double. Roche got the Phillies' offense started from the lead-off spot - beginning the game by legging out a double to start a three run rally. Quajon Everett also delivered a pair of hits while carlos Madera scored three runs for the Phils. Congratulations to all the Phillies & Indians players.
